Amaryllis flowers look like Easter Lilies but they are not scented...but they do come in many colors. They have similar looking leaves also and they will do their best growing outdoors.
To keep your Amaryllis plants looking well, be sure to cut off the old leaves when they begin to look brown or are yellowing.
As with all plants you will need to control weeds that are trying to take over the area where your Amaryllis are planted. You can try putting up signs telling the weeds not to invade your Amaryllis plants or any other plants in your garden......but so far I haven't heard that it has ever worked! But you can try it.....
Amaryllis plants grow from bulbs. If, after flowering in their pots, keep them there until you notice that there may be other bulbs starting to show up......then it is time to transplant them. Cut off the old flower heads or.....you can let them stay there......and they will produce a pod or two of seeds. Just about every seed of your Amaryllis plants will grow but it will take 2 to 3 years to get flowering plants from the seeds you have sown.
